“Your future is created by what you do today, not tomorrow.”
Robert Kiyosaki
What I think this statement is trying to say is that when you are doing something today you should always think how it is going to affect you right now and in the future like let’s say you want to become a basketball player and you are doing some type of drug the people hiring for basketball players won’t want to have you in their team they want someone who work to the top and didn’t take short cuts to it they want the very best not a slacker that things short cuts will save them.

5 Tips for Success
Tips 3-4
Tips 3: Do Research
Literary critics have written vast numbers of analytical and critical pieces on countless books. If you’re having trouble understanding a particular text, do some research and see what knowledgeable sources have to say about it. In addition to increase your comprehension, you’ll also be showing initative, something teachers always like to guides. Going the extra mile in your research elevates your achievement 10-fold.
Tip 4: Use Dictionary
Make sure you have access to the dictionary when you’re reading. You can often figure out the meaning of an unfamiliar word by using context clues, but sometimes you can’t. Rather than simply skipping over the word you don’t know, take the time to look them up. The results are well worth the effort. Your comprehension will increase greatly, and you’ll built your vocabulary at the same time.

Reading and writing go hand in hand. The better you understand a text, the more likely you are to successfully communicate your thoughts about it in writing. So it’s important to develop strong skills in both areas. With that in mind, here’s how to improve your reading comprehension.

Tips 1-2
Tip 1: Annotate
Be an active reader. Instead of passively reading a text, take notes about important story elements, key factual information and significant ideas in the text.
Tip 2: Note the Author’s Writing Style
Every author writes with a purpose, using deliberate methods to successfully relate specific information to the audience. When you’re reading, look for patterns in the author’s writing. For example, you may notice a repetition For example, you may notice a repetition of key words, phrases or symbols—or the use of a distinct type of sentence structure. Authors employ these writing strategies to help readers comprehend a central argument or theme, so be sure to explore how these techniques create meaning.

The Three Don’ts
Don’t whine
Don’t complain
Don’t make excuses
I think these are true don’ts we shouldn’t be whining about something we have to do. We should always do what we are told to do no matter the cost so long as it is under the rules of doing what is right. Whining does nothing but make you wait longer on doing what you already have to do. You shouldn’t complain either it makes you look weak and no one wants to think your weak so just get to what you have to do. Don’t make excuses they do nothing for you just cause you make an excuse about something there is always a down side you either have to do it either way or the person you are making an excuse to wont believe you and if they do believe you then you are abusing their trust.

3. Set Attainable Goals
If you’re having trouble writing a 25-page paper for class because it seems like such a big job, don’t focus on that final number. Break the paper down and consider each section of your paper individually. You can handle any project in small chunks.
4. Find a Social Support Network
Create a group of people around you who want to help you succeed. Mentors can be teachers or family friends who can give you guidance and help you develop new skills. Counselors can help you with planning your course and starting to explore colleges. You can also reach out to friends and peers who can motivate you by listening and sharing ideas.
5. Acknowledge Your Accomplishments
Give yourself a quick reward when you complete an assignment or task. Take a walk, send an email, get a snack. Then move on to the next project.

"The Three Never"
Never Lie
Never Cheat
Never Steal
John Wooden
What I  think this statement is trying to say is that you should never do any of the above things no matter what. You should always be doing what you are told and if someone asks you a question seriously or even if it is a normal question you should always tell the truth. You should never cheat on anything no matter how good you think you are at getting always with things you shouldn't cheat because not only is it bad but everyone always gets caught for cheating. You should never steal either cause you'll feel guilty for doing that your conscience will eat at you and you'll feel so bad for doing it and you can't go back in time and stop yourself from doing it.

5 Tips for Staying Motivated Tips 1-2

5 Tips for Staying Motivated
Tips 1-2
To succeed in high school and college, you have to do your best at all time. But sometimes it’s hard to stay motivated, even when you really care the work you’re doing. Here are five ways to stay on the right track.

1.   Focus on High-Impact Activities
The key to success in high school is staying focused on your course work. Make a list to get an overall picture of workload before you start to tackle any of it. Then, make a plan. Although it’s tempting to do the simplest assignments first, those that take more time and effort to accomplish are probably the ones that you’ll learn the most from.
To determine what your priorities are, rank your assignments in the order of their importance. Then rearrange your time and devote more energy towards those that have the greatest impact on your course work and grades. For example, even though all homework assignments are important, studying for a midterm exam takes priority over writing a paragraph for English class. Are you complete each task, think of it as another step on your way to college success.
2.   Create New challenges
Changing your approach can help you stay interested in what you’re doing. If you’ve been given an assignment similar to one you’ve done in the past, think about it in a different way. If you wrote an essay for a creative writing assignment last year, try a poem this time. For a book reports, pick a history book instead of another biography.

“You have only always to do what is right. It will become easier by practice, and you enjoy in the midst of your trial the pleasure of an approving conscience.”
Robert E. Lee
What I think the first statement is trying to say is that you always have the time to do what is right whenever and where ever you are you should always have the words choose the right in your mind and it will help you out a lot down the line. What I think the second part of this statement means is that the more you practice at doing what is right every where you go you will sooner or later make it habit and keep on doing it. Then it says after you are use to doing what is right you will enjoy life more and you wont have to suffer at the feet of your conscience for doing what is wrong so you should always do what is right to enjoy life even more to the fullest if you can so long as it is the right thing to do.

Part 3
Take Advantage of Any Free Time
If you have a study period or a long bus ride, use the time to review notes, prepare for an upcoming class or start your homework. Flash cards are a great learning tool. They are easy to make, easy to handle, and are a marvelous tool to help you learn and remember anything. Punch a hole in the upper left corner of each index card and connect the stack of flash cards with a ring. Then the cards are bound and not left flopping around. Flash cards bound like this act liken a small book with pages. You can even have separate ringer stacks for each subject. WHATEVER YOU WANT TO REMEMBER PUT IT ON A CARD.
Study with a friend
Get together with friends and classmates to quiz each other , compare notes and predict test questions. Consider joining a study group.
Communicate
If you have concerns about the amount or type of homework you have, you may want to talk to your family, teachers or counselor. They can help you understand how much time you need to allot for homework and how to manage your tasks.
Celebrate Your Achievements
Reward yourself for hitting milestones or doing something well.

“Be always sure you’re right,
then go ahead.”
What I think this statement is trying to say is that if you are unsure of something being right then you shouldn’t do it at all, but if you are sure that it isn’t bad then go ahead and keep doing what you are doing. What this is trying to say is that you should always think before you do something no matter what it is you never know what is going to be the consequence after. This statement is kind of the same as think before you leap because you have to see where you are going to land.

Take Control of Homework So It Doesn’t Control You Part 2

Take Control of Homework So It Doesn’t Control You Part 2 Keep Things in Perspective Know how much weight each assignment or test carries, and use your time accordingly. Don’t waste time, but be wise and smart. Get More Involved Keep your mind from wandering by taking note, underlining sections, discussing topics with others or relating your homework to something you ‘re studying in another class. Learn actively and not passively. Be anxiously engaged in your studies and you will have a great experience. Demostrate a good attitude toward home assignments, and you will being to love doing it. Organize the Information People process information in different ways. Some people like to draw pictures or charts to digest information, others prefer to read out loud or make detailed outlines. Try to find the methods that work best for you. Ask your teacher for recommendations if you’re having trouble. Choose the right!!!

Student Success Statement “Character is higher than intelligence.” Randolph Waldo Emerson What I think this statement is trying to say is that if you are a good person people would look at you better than if you were a very intelligent rude person. If you went into a restaurant and you had all the money in the world because your smart with money but you’re rude no one will want to give you the service you want that’s why some stores say we have the right to refuse service to anyone. So you have to pay attention to what you do and say to people no matter how smart or higher you feel to them.

Take Control of Homework So It Doesn't Control You Part 1 http://www.collegeboard.com/student/plan/boost-your-skills/121.html Although very few students love homework, it does serve a purpose. Homework helps you: • Reinforce what you've learned during the day. • Build study habits that are essential in college. • Prepare for your classes. • Get a sense of progress. Here are some tips to help you deal with homework more efficiently and effectively. Set the Mood Create a good study area with everything you need (for example, a calculator). If you don’t have a quiet place at home, try your school or local library. Know Where to Begin Make a list of everything you need to do, and note all deadlines. Do the more difficult assignments first, so you don’t have to face them at the end. Study at the Same Time Every Day Even if you don’t have homework every night, use the time to review notes. If sitting down to work is part of your normal routine, you’ll approach it with less dread. Also, you’ll become a pro at using time productively. CHOOSE THE RIGHT!!!

“I think it better to do right, even if we suffer in so doing,
than to incur the reproach of our conscience and posterity.”
Robert E. Lee
What I think this statement means is that even if you don’t feel good about doing what is right you should still do it like most people don’t like doing their homework but you’re supposed to. What this man is trying to say is that even If it’s hard to do and you don’t want to do it you should never feel like you shouldn’t do it. It is easier to not do what it is right and harder to do what isn’t.

If he felt like there relationship wasn't really going well he should have just broke up with her, because hes a basketball player he can get any girl he wan'ts this could have all been avoided and he could have easily kept going on with his life as a basketball player doing whatever he wanted getting all the fame and going on to becoming a pro but he missed up now he is sitting in a jail cell pondering why did he do that why didn't he take a different approach at this and actually thought what he was doing.

After class
As soon as class ends, review your notes and fill in any blanks. Underline, highlight and use symbols to sort through the information. If you don’t understand something, get help from your teacher or classmates.
After you’ve reviewed all your notes from class, in the left-hand area of the page with down key word and questions your teacher might ask on a test.
At the bottom of each page, write a summary of the notes. This helps you digest what you’ve learned. It also improves your memory of the material for the long term and for tests down the road.

Distance Education: Is a Virtual Classroom for You?
Part 4 of 4
Emphasis on the Written Word
Most of the communication, as well as the course work, in distance-learning classes is written. That’s a plus , because the focus on the written word gives you the opportunity to develop as a writer---and strong writing skills are essential to academic success. However, if writing is a serious weakness for you, virtual learning may not be the best education option until you improve your skills. Yes, most of distance education is the written word; therefore, you need to be a good reader, love to read, and love writing also. Most of your assignments will be written and submitted to the instructor in the written format. Your penmanship needs to be excellent, spelling great, sentence structure above average, vocabulary extraordinary. You need to have online access with reliable equipment. If your internet communications at home isn’t working, you can’t do online education from home and will need to go to someplace where you do have access to the internet.

Decide Whether Its Right for you
Distance education isn’t for everyone, but it just might be for you. You really should seek it out and give it a try. You never know until you try. You might even fall in love with distance education. While distance education may be the perfect alternative for some students, its not the right choice for everyone. So carefully consider your unique needs and interest and give distance education a try; maybe its right for you.

Distance Education: Is a Virtual

Challenging Aspects of Distance Education
·       Lack of in-person interaction: Some educators argue that both teacher-student and student-student contact are essential to learning. In a distance-learning classroom, you may be able to participate in class discussion online in chat rooms, message border or Web conference-but it’s not the same being with other students in a classroom.
·       different levels of quality: Many distance-education programs supply an excellent learning experience, but others may not
Research any program before signing to make sure it’s rigorous enough. If you are choosing your own program, look into its accreditations before enrolling.
·       The need to self-start: Distance education lets you make your own shedules. If you have a hard time getting motivated, this might not be the ideal educational setting for you.

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
What  I think this statement is trying to say is that you past and future do not matter the only real thing that matters is what you think and what is right. Like what Mr. Haymore said about the picture there is a compass inside us that help us know the difference between good and bad and you should follow what that inside you says. There is a reason we know right from wrong, we have a conscience that tells us what is wrong and right this isn't something you can see or touch but it is inside you telling you yes or no. Some people ignor it but they shouldn't because those are the ones that have went into bad things.

Positive Aspects of Distant Education
·       Independence and the time management: Taking courses online lets you hone your ability to work on your own. You also gain experience in managing your time efficiently.
·       A flexible schedule: Schools can only provide a certain number of class periods in a single school day, and there may not be enough time for you to take everything you want. Because distance education lets you take classes outside regular school hours, it gives you the flexibility to explore all interest.
·       Advance and specialize classes: some schools can’t provide advanced or specialized classes. Distance education gives you the chance to gain experience in areas that would otherwise remain out of reach.

Distance Education: Is a Virtual

Part 1

You may want to take a class that your high school doesn't offer. Under some circumstances, you can still enroll in the class—through distances learning.

Distance education means taking a class without being physically present where it is being taught. Internet-based technology lets students participate in lectures and class sessions online from almost anywhere.
Some high schools agree recognize distance learning credits when they don’t have the resources to offer a course themselves. Distance education is often used to increase options in rural areas and for AP courses.
For you, it might mean doing self-tutorial at home in the evening or participating in a class that is 1,000 miles away, along with other high school students. Check with your school counselor to see what’s available.

"You must never be fearful about what you
are doing when it is right."
Rosa Parks
What I think this statement means is that you shouldn't feel bad if you are doing something right even though it feels right. For example if a bunch of people are doing something wrong and they are all saying it is good but you know its bad but everyone is against you don't back don't do what you think is right and not what is wrong. The only time you should be fearful is when you are doing something wrong because you are in dangering yourself or others.

Additional Tips
Although work and going to school is challenging, it can be a rewarding experience if you use some foresight tips can help you handle the situation and make the most of your time:
·       Discuss your plans with your family. Balancing the demands of school and work is easier with their support.
·       Start slowly; don’t commit to working a lot of hours immediately.
·       Avoid time conflicts by planning your class and work schedules as far ahead of time as possible.
·       Use your time efficiently. You can use 10 minutes waiting in a lot of downtime and your boss has no objection, you can use slow periods to do schoolwork.
·       If you commute your job on public transportation, bring your schoolwork with you so you can work along the way.
·       Be flexable and willing to make sacrifices. You may have to cut down on some other things you’d like to do because of your school and work commitments.
·       If you have too much on your plate, admit it. Then cut back as needed.
·       Schedule relaxation time. Everybody needs some downtime to say happy and healthy.
