Balance High School and Part-Time Work Part 3

Balance High School and
Part-Time Work
Part 3

http://www.collegeboard.com/students/plan/high-school/45266.html

Like many high school students, you may want—or need – to work part time. Working takes a lot of time. Working takes a lot of time and energy, though, so before getting a job, make sure that you think about your ability to handle both work and your education.

Important Considerations
You have to weigh a number of factors when deciding whether to take a part on a part-time job. It’s important to get as much information as possible, so you can figure out what choice makes the most sense for you.
Schedule a meeting with your school counselor to discuss the idea of working. Talk to your counselor about why you want to work and what type of position you’re seeking.

Success in AP can also help you in other ways. AP helps you stand out in the admission process and offers the opportunity to learn from some of the most inspiring teachers in the world. Learn more about the AP program.

For More Help in Choosing Courses
Use College Search to look up a specific college’s academic requirements to be sure you are on track to attend the college of your choice.
If you have concerns about your class schedule or progress in school, set up a meeting with your school counselor, teacher or adviser. There are many resources to help you with this process and with achieving your personal, college and career goals. Without goals, you meander all sorts of directions. Goals give you purpose, direction, enthusiasm, and passion for that which you really desire. Define your goals deliberately, evaluate your goals often and make changes as necessary, work hard to achieve your goals, and continue working hard until you actually do reach your goal.

“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing.”
Theodore Roosevelt
What this statement is saying is that if you are in a position to choose between right and wrong you should always choose the right so you won’t have to suffer the consequences. If you choose the wrong then you wouldn’t like what the consequences would be after, because if you choose the wrong the result won’t be good one and you’ll suffer the wrath of karma. If you are offered any type of drug you have the choice to either take it or say no to it, it would be best if you said no because if you say yes then one of the consequences would be an addiction to that drug.

The Arts
Research indicates that students who participate in the arts often do better in school and on standardized tests. The arts help you recognize patterns, discern differences and similarities, and exercise your mind in unique ways, often outside a traditional classroom setting.
Many colleges require or recommend one or two semesters in the arts. Good choices include studio art, dance, music and drama. Many students have talents and extraordinary abilities in the arts. Students should look within their own repertoire of talents and identify their artistic abilities and take college classes to develop their talents.
Advanced Placement program (AP)
To be sure you are ready to take on college-level work, enroll in the most challenging courses you can high school, such as honors or AP courses. Research constantly shows that students who score a 3.0 or higher ion an AP Exam would typically experience greater academic success and college graduation rates than students who don’t take AP.
Work hard in your righteous pursuits, and you will reap the benefits of self-fulfillment and job satisfaction. Don’t take shortcuts just to “get by,” instead, take challenging and difficult roads (courses) and reach higher mountain peaks of achievement

“To know what is right and not do it
 is the worst cowardice”
What the message in this statement is that if you don’t choose the right and chooses to go down the wrong path that will make you be a coward for not facing the right thing to do. Most people choose the wrong way because they are to coward to take on a real challenge and that would be choosing the right. Most people say that it is easier to run away from your problems than to face them but if you always run away from your problems then you’ll never get nothing done and no one will think good of you the only thing they’ll think of you is, is a coward.

Selecting Your Courses Part 4 Social Studies You can better understand local and world events that are happening now by studying the culture and history that has shaped them. Here is a suggested course plan: • U.S history (two semesters) • U.s government (one semester) • World history or Geography (one semester) • One additional semester in the above or other areas Foreign language Solid foreign language study shows colleges you’ve willing to stretch beyond the basics. Many colleges require at least two years of study in the same foreign language, and some prefer more. Learning a foreign language can be a challenge but is exciting. Repetition is the key to learning a language, and having conversations with others speaking the same language is the best way to learn this new language. Repetition in a fun way will build your skills thoroughly as you seek to mater new languages. Choose The Right!!

“Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. These are the (3) magic keys to living your life with integrity.”
W. Clement Stone
What this statement is trying to say is that if you deny that you didn’t do something that wasn’t supposed to be done and don’t want to face the truth that you did that bad thing then you are a coward. It is also giving you three different ways you can live your life and feel good about it and not frown back at it. If you didn’t follow any of this advice then you will go down as not a worthy person but a bad one. An example of someone lying and not feeling good about is ponocio he lied so his nose grew bigger and bigger.

Science
Science teachers you think analytically and apply theories to reality. Colleges want to see that you’ve taken at least three years of laboratory science classes. A good combination includes two semesters of each of the following sciences:
·        Biology
·        chemistry
·        Earth/space science
More competitive schools expect you to take four years of lab science courses. You can add two semesters in one of the following subjects:
·        Chemistry or physics (science you didn’t already study)
·        advanced biology
·        Advanced chemistry
·        Advanced physics

Walk the Talk

How that I think this video made me feel is that I can do anything if i put my mind to it. It made me feel like i should grab my future and hold onto it with all my strength. It showed me all the good characteristics i should have and should set for myself in the future. It made me feel like my whole life is in my own hands and i should do something about that and not sit around doing nothing I should do what I have to to do to be successful.

“Nobody ever did, or ever will escape the consequences of his choices.”
-Albert A. Montapert
What this statement is trying to say is that if you do something there is always a consequence no matter what if it’s bad or good. If you do something bad that doesn’t mean you’ll get something good in return you’re going to get something bad. If you do something good nothing bad will happen to you those who choose the right and do what they are told then they’ll get something back good in return. No matter what you do you’ll always get it back in return so always do what is right and never what is wrong because you don’t want to always be looking over your shoulder if something you did bad.

Do the Reading
You need to do more than just read the chapters you are assigned—you’re expected to understand them thoroughly. Here are some tips:
·       Don’t skim. Read all the material carefully.
·       Break up difficult assignments into sections you can digest- chapters, subsections or even paragraphs.
·       Look up any words that you don’t understand.
·       Pause to think about whether you understand the materials; ask questions in class and about anything that is unclear.
·       Take notes instead of highlighting – this makes you think through and rephrase the key points.
·       Create a summary sheet of what you’ve learned from each assignment you read.
